The really nice monti setosa’s look somewhat pink/red to me. Could be the colour of bulb the aquarist is using.

WOW…..I would pass right over that coral. Its ok but not really that nice.
You need to see it up close. It has a pink skirt, with the green center. It is truly a ‘WOW’ coral.

Hahha. If you look, you can contact WhoDah?, and maybe he can get one for you… for a liver or a spleen.
i hear there are a few ways to make this morph happen. the simplest way is to just let a frag of nuclear greens grow next to a frag of purple deaths (and i mean close enough to touch each other). eventually you might get a little mixing.
the second method is to physically cut a polyp of each in half and glue them onto frag plug. someone on reefcentral did this and the two halves healed up and grew together as one polyp. then, future polyps from this frag were mixed color.

Only the same species are easily fused. There have been reports of different acropora species fusing together, but that takes more luck than practise.

Really shocked you posted my picture, no one commented on it @ reefcentral. however I thought it was a rare find. That pic was under a combo of t5 antic and aqua blue plus.
It is a rare find. And it is more stunning in person than in pictures.
$200 for that? I mean its pretty but not THAT pretty. I guess rarity rules the roost huh?
Or those darn Japanese collectors. They always drive the prices up!
Some people use screens on top of their tanks to prevent fish from jumping.
Well haveing seen these fish all over the world, im sure there is a pandemic going on, i had one of these in my marine fishtank and it grew huge easily a foot in like 6 months and also this 1 fish consumed a lot of food so i can emperthise, if they taste good and are sustainible why not eat them

Not yet, but we have a farmer that is growing them for us.
i can’t say that i’m impressed with that coloration. it’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but i wouldn’t pay $80 for a frag judging by that picture. perhaps it looks a lot better in person or under actinic lighting. the image above does look like it was taken with a flash, so a lot of the color is probably washed out.
This is why, especially in this hobby, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Tempermental… but definately worth the effort. Hope to have one like the one shown someday!
As for the reg. ‘Shrooms… can the rock be worked on out of the main tank? If so, you’ll find the work much easier and will not produce chem warfare in your system.
I have had sucesss removing them just using my thumb-nail – worked with patience at the base of the offending mushroom. (The more agressive you are, the more toxin it will produce in your system.) This usually yeilds a healthy specimen that can be donated to another hobbiest or your LFS. After, take a stainless steel dental pick (usually found at a hobby shop) and scrape down the LRock where the mushroom base was attached. It will leave a blemish on the rock… but that will cover over with coraline soon enough. The key is to use stainless steel, this is inert in salt water. If the mushroom is not reachable with your thumbnail, Use the dental pick instead. Hope this method works for you, Good Luck!

I find R. yumas to be slower growing and less of a nuisance than say the regular Discosoma mushrooms. Yumas tend to be more demanding and thus require a lot more care. Plus they are finicky once intruduced into your system.

i’ll admit the picture sucks from a marketing standpoint, but i think the coral was photographed under natural sunlight. in their press release, ora says their soli will have a greenish base, green polyps, and purple tips. and in all honesty, most of the solis i’ve seen had somewhat drab coloration on the base, but their growth form, polyp color, and tip colors have always made these corals shine.
the thing i like about this coral is it seems like ora is sort of returning to some old school originals. they didn’t give the soli a fancy name and it’s not some insane color. perhaps it’s more of a throwback coral.
