Steve Tyree is no stranger to branding beautiful corals but some can be very mundane, and quite frankly, duds. This is not the case for the specimen below. This Leptastrea species packs a punch with its red/orange polyps and yellow centers, take a look:
According to Reeffarmers.com, a small fragment would cost you 80$ US. You know, usually I do not like the prices created by the large US market, but this figure is bang on. You will not find many Leptastrea species that resemble the coral above.


i can’t say that i’m impressed with that coloration. it’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but i wouldn’t pay $80 for a frag judging by that picture. perhaps it looks a lot better in person or under actinic lighting. the image above does look like it was taken with a flash, so a lot of the color is probably washed out.
This is why, especially in this hobby, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
