While I love my Profilux, the documentation is somewhat lacking.  My Profilux 3 upgrade kit arrived Friday and Saturday morning I got to work.  As a blogger, I documented the process so others can benefit.

To do the upgrade you will need a slotted screwdriver, a #1 Phillips screwdriver and a pair of pliers.

First, pop all of the blue tabs off the case by sliding the flat head of the screw driver under the tab and twisting gently.  There are two tabs on each corner.

Use the screw driver to pry the case apart.

Gently pull the front panel  out of the slot and disconnect the cable.

There should only be one circuit board left in the case.  Turn the case so the board is on the side closest to you.  Remove the two screws from the board that are on the furthest most to the left.

This is what you have left over.

Next, remove the back panel by unscrewing the nuts from around the RS232 port.  You may need the pliers for this.

Plug the USB and LAN card into the board.  Put the new faceplate back in place and screw the nuts back into the RS232 port.

You should have something resembling this.

Put the risers into the spot you removed the two screws.  This is for the PAB connections.

Connect the PAB cable before screwing it in place.

The PAB board goes back in place upside down.  Plug front panel connection cable back in place (the big cable in the middle) and the ethernet cable at the bottom.

Next, connect everything to the appropriate socket.  The front panel can then be slid into place.  This step is a little trick.  Also, I had a hard time connecting the big flat cable.  It was like it was just a little too short.

Here’s a better show of the front panel in place.  Make sure you put the front circuit board into the holes on the front panel before sliding it into place.

If all goes well, you should get this screen when you plug it in.

Tada!  You’re done!
