Because many of us need Friday brain munchies, we stumbled upon a thread on Reef Central which talks about the old DIY Two Part vs the ‘new’ Balling Method. The discussion gets comical, and interesting. Our take on this ‘war’? Use whatever you feel can sustain your system. We use calcium reactors and dosers. Two different systems with different needs. Yours will be too. Make a descision based on your needs!
Have a great weekend reefnecks!

Well … is that not quite the thread. cost me a couple of hours but real fun to watch the players go round.
That thread is an excellent example of how little man kind has developed in the last 2000 years! The only difference between then and now is that instead of sticks, arrows, and hand grenades people use an endless barage of words. I guess that’s one small step. I see three groups bashing heads with none of them willing to concede 1″. The science crowd beat down the capitalists without realizing that without the $$ the capitalists earn their science would have no funding. The reason the hobby has advanced so far is due to the business aspect of the hobby. Critical mass is the foundation to develop the product. No critical mass and it ends up as a fringe cult like endeavour. Sure there’s always someone out there who is in it for nothing but the cash but that is the neccessary evil. For eveything there is a cost and some people, for any number of reasons, this concept just won’ fit in their pointed heads. Always entertaining to say the least!
It is a mouthful of a thread. Lots to read and learn. Although that Canadian vendor got into hot water.
If you remember Michael and his GHL launch you will remember he is an agressive business man. Maybe too agressive for the reef crowd. As he wrote he received support calls for products he sells and likely gets frustrated to find out that his products are getting slagged when used in a way that was not recommended. He needs to tone it down and watch what he writes. Silly mistakes like the one he made in the original thread will tank (sorry) him everytime. He’ll learn or go broke trying just like everyone else.
Exactly. You can be an aggressive business man, but on the internet, it is a different ballgame. Things are much more scrutinized then in eye-to-eye world.
Oh darn, those canreef mods took down the original thread at canreef, can anybody summarize it for me? ;-D
Being in business can be tough and I do sympathize Michael especially when your competition is eating up your market left and right with the controller price war and with all other aspects.
