What would a BTTF segment be without a mention of the infamous PFE. Lets recap shall we?

I had dinner with my extended family last night and like all good family dinners, I left feeling angry. All that familial frustration has to go somewhere, and today it looks like it’s going towards people who post doctored photos.
I’m not the only one calling people out on false photos. In some of these pictures, the coral doesn’t even look real. One reason I keep my coral under 14,000K metal halides is that I prefer the colour; to me it’s more realistic. I’m going with 10,000K lighting the next time I buy bulbs which is less blue and should give me more realistic colours. I want to see what my coral looks like. I don’t want a pastel approximation.
Some of the stores near me run 20,000K halides with super actinic T5 supplements. Some stores run 8 bulb T5s with 6 actinic bulbs. It’s next to impossible to see what the coral’s going to look like in my tank.
Which brings us to this picture. It was posted on a local aquarium board as part of a shipment by our friends at The Bad Vendor. I’ve created a new award and I propose that it’s called The Purple Finger. The Purple Finger would be awarded to the most obviously doctored photo of coral.
Here’s the first winner:

So after so much thought, after posting on misrepresentation of coral colors using Photoshop, we have come together to introduce what we call the PFE Award or better known as the Purple Finger of Excellence Award.
This award will only go towards those people who are desperately trying to sell frags or corals in total purple hue. What we mean by that is everything in the photo is purple or blue except the pastel colors of the coral. In fact, if you look closely, even their hand/fingers are radiating in that purple color.
We must end deception with PhotoShop! Lets start a revolution (small, I know)! Please use the above logo freely to expose those who try to blast you with eye piercing blues and purples! Show them that you can notice their deception by posting that logo in their threads/emails!

I’d like to award this month’s RC nTOTM with the coverted PFE Award… I am assuming this also applies to oversaturated, overexposed and oversharpened photos? Perhaps a new award? Triple O Award?

WTF – those are horrible.
My eyes just bled for a couple of minutes. They don’t have Visine for bleeding eyes due to photoshop?
Logan, it is unfortunate that a lot of people have to over-do the image editing to present a completely different picture.
I had to put on sunglasses to look at these, lol http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r72/shelldwellers/AM1.jpg
Love the PFE!
the RC TOTM does look definitely post-processed, judging by the color of sand.. but http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r72/shelldwellers/AM1.jpg looks like a well taken photo under actinics only..
@conix “a well taken photo under actinics with the saturation cranked up” FTFY.
