In the hobby since 2001, and has seen all kinds of fads come and go. As he gets older, Jeff is developing more and more of a conscience towards environmental concerns, especially towards reefs. Currently, he writes from Ontario, Canada, but would rather be snorkeling on a reef.
Hey I know that fish!
Hey, I took that photo!
just saw 6 of them in a LFS tank. What a beautiful site. He is currently teaching them to eat frozen. Not long ago, these fish could not be kept as they only ate polyps from SPS. Someone discovered that if you take a SPS Coral let them eat away all the polyps and then attached frozen food (brine and mysis) to the same coral they would start eating frozen with some encouragement.
Let’s hear how you train it to eat frozen
I have 3 of them and TDF (who commented above) has 2. His are eating and mine aren’t. I’ll do a post on them in the near future.
Mine never touched frozen but he’s eating flakes like there’s no tomorrow
Mine never ate off the coral skeleton, but I got them eating Nutramar Ova out of the water column. From there it was introducing other small foods to the WC until a few weeks ago they started picking at bigger frozen foods off the substrate. Six months in my care now, four months with no coral!
