The Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto has opened a new gallery and it features a 550 gallon reef aquarium. There’s not a lot of information outside of press releases; not even pictures of the aquarium itself that I can find. There is however, a pretty cool behind the scenes tour of the tank from a show called Daily Planet. It seems to be mostly about acclimatizing the fish for the tank, which is pretty interesting in itself. Does anyone have more information about the tank?

Interesting to see BA’s was the supplier. Looks like they were able to pawn of their remaining inventory of Soalris LED’s on the ROM. I hope they got a good deal on them. Nice video player BTW

Here’s an article from the National Post: http://www.nationalpost.com/related/links/story.html?id=1597916
ROM has a few construction pics of the Schad Gallery showing the tank. (not much) http://www.rom.on.ca/sneakpeek/index.php?gal=11
I went to check out the ROM Friday. They had free admission so it was packed and I couldn’t get a picture, sorry. You didn’t miss much however. Whatever corals weren’t dead, looked like they will be shortly. Also there was way to much rock an it looked lousy. The fish looked to be doing good, but no extraordinary livestock. That being said the Biodiversity Exhibit was great, very very interesting and well presented.
Is it better than the toronto zoo’s?
Probably. We will let you know, as we are getting the full blown tour. Will have a post about it.
that’s not fair I wanna go too LOL … but I guess I would learn better going to Vlad’s tank tour instead.

Yeah, I hope they know that there isn’t any warranty on the Solaris
Will be there tomorrow for a visit.
