It is not Rocky Vs Apollo, but it sure is billed that way. Two heavyweights in the reef industry are possibly going to fight it out in court. According to WetWebMedia (a soon-to-be former residence of Anthony Calfo and a current one of Bob Fenner), and ReefBuilders, the dispute between the two revolves around the publication of their co-written book titled “Reef Invertebrates 4″. Here is a snippet from Reef Builders who broke the story:
It has come to my attention that a former friend, pet-fish content producer has elected to steal from me by having printed and selling a work we co-authored… a “fourth printing” of Reef Invertebrates. I did not agree to this pressing nor to the cheesy ads promoting Anthony’s ‘zine et al. added to this edition. I ask that you not purchase this illegal edition and eschew doing business with Mr. Calfo period.

I have met both Calfo and Fenner.
To me, Fenner was more of a generalist and does not have the deep knowledge in reef keeping comparing to Calfo. Fenner might have more industrial knowledge in comparison though.
I do not think this is a big deal towards two business partner should affect their images.
Some hobbyist also receive quite a nasty message accusing one party of many ugly dealings, it is just sad that some people have to slander against others hiding behind facebook private messages.
I too have had the privilage of meeting both Fenner and Calfo. Both great contributors to our beloved hobby.
Personally, I do not believe that any public forum is a place to call someone out on a wrong doing. There is other avenues to address any issues at hand.
To make matters worse, promoting the fight on different blogs, facebook, etc is doing nothing more than adding fuel to the fire.
Regardless of what I am hearing, I still have respect for both parties.

We are just a medium for news and information, not advocating either side.
No one likes to see stuff like this happen but, it happens. I dont fault Bob for making this public. If everything really happened the way Bob says then he has every right to be upset and to make everything public. I would guess that Bobs biggest issue is with the ads being added to the book. People have to protect their image and reputation and if Bob said nothing people would think he supported/condoned this.

I see your point, but I still think he (Bob) should have handled this behind closed doors.
The entire situation in my opinion at this point is “hearsay”. You have people on facebook, dogging and insulting Anthony as if he killed someone. This can turn into a bad game of telephone….. the real story begins to break down as it gets passed over the net.
