I wanted to share with you all some of the corals that I currently own, or had owned, that I deem special (at least to me). I have owned a lot of corals in my time, so here are my special ones…
Note to readership: I do not consider myself a photographer. I had to use some zoom tricks to develop these upcoming shots. What else can you do with a point-and-shoot 3 megapixel Olympus?
Names of the corals (top left to bottom right): 1. Blue/Purple A. millepora, 2. Fire/Ice A. millepora, 3. Marshall Island Blue/Purple A. sp? , 4. Pink A. millepora, 5. Purple Tipped A. desalwii, 6. Aquamarine Green A. tenuis, 7. Marshall Island Tricolor A. valida, 8. Purple polyp M. digitada, 9. Tyree True M. undata

Some lovely corals you snapped. Care to share your ‘zoom’ technique?
I took my pictures with 10K light, but placed indirectly to the coral that I am taking of photo of. Set the image size to the largest (or for you 1000$ camera guys, set to raw), macro mode and on flash. Take the clearest picture that you can without using zoom (1000$ camera guys stay out of this).
Then in PhotoShop, zoom into the photo as much as you can. Simply crop it, and you are done.
nice pics … well done even if you dont have the $1,000 macro shot.
Its a lot of trial and error with this method. But you can get good at it once you have the proper lighting for your coral pictures.
excellent shots for a P&S. I haven’t gotten around to getting a macro lens yet, but will consider it at some point. Tyree M. undata is still one of my favorite corals.
I know. I love the undata. In fact, recently was almost dead due to an infestation of the monti eating nudis.
