A Transparent Head On A Fish?

Yes. You read it right. A fish with a transparent head. You can see the organs of the fish through it’s head. Gross? Unique? Extraordinary? You be the judge. Macropinna microstoma, a deep water fish described first in 1939, has been under heavy research by the MBARI (Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute). They have identified that the fish has obscured vision, or ‘tunnel vision’, due to its eyes being fixated in one position. More can be read upon in MBARI’s article.
