Great news for the Humpback Whale, which were down to about 1500 left in 1996 when hunting them was outlawed.
The study released this week by SPLASH, an international organization of more than 400 whale watchers, estimates there were between 18,000 and 20,000 whales in the North Pacific in 2004-2006.
Now, to do the same for sharks.

It shows that it is possible to do something about endangered species. There should be a similar effort now to save the sharks. But people’s fear will overtake any conservation that may be in place to save them.
